Why Goats?

I often get asked “Why Goats?”. A simple enough question but a complicated one. I personally chose goats because after chasing sheep and when I say, “chasing sheep”, I really mean that. With my blood pressure boiling and the sheep are running thru fences, thru walls or hitting walls, and if one goes, they all go scenario. I decided that sheep were not my thing, so I get bum lambs each spring and raise them on goats’ milk and then sell them.

Goats, for the most part stay in if I take the time to do the fencing right and they follow me like a dog does. They are intelligent beyond their means and keep me entertained. I have noticed over the years that people are either goat people or sheep people and rarely both. Like a cat person vs. a dog person. I particularly love Oberhasli Dairy Goats. They are sweet, quiet, and give good milk if they are bred right.
